#Brexit Aftermath: When Democracies Rally Against Democracy

by Eze Eluchie,

In emerging economies of Sub Sahara Africa, Asia and the Middle East, the United States and European Union countries serve as champions of democratic values, outwardly striving to ensure that every country abides by the tenets of democracy, universal suffrage, that votes get counted and that so long as the outcome of the democratic process meets so-called international standards that all parties involved in the process abides with and work towards respecting such outcomes.

These Western countries have, cumulatively, spent several million Dollars, Euros and Pounds, ostensibly, in ‘observing’ and ‘monitoring’ elections across Africa and Asia, always quick to release lengthy and oftentimes scathing reports on the outcomes of elections into political offices, declaring whether such elections across Africa or Asia met with the proverbial ‘international standards’ expected of ‘democratic governance’ and similar haughty language. Positive ‘reports’ on electoral processes by these EU and American Election Observers/Monitors immediately serves like a ‘stamp of approval, irrespective of whether the citizens of the country concerned saw glaring wide spread acts of electoral fraud (as happened during elections which led to the emergence of Liberian President, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf); On the converse, even where the citizens of the countries concerned have freely expressed their choice and the process was relatively free and fair, condemnation of the electoral process by the EU Election Observers/Monitors have led to ‘international economic and political sanctions’, (as happened during election in Zimbabwe which led to the re-election of President Robert Mugabe).

It is in the light of the foregoing, and the general acceptance and acknowledgement of the fact that the Brexit Referendum conducted in the United kingdom were free and fair and met with the so-called ‘international standards’ for good democratic electoral process, that one is astonished at the manner the leadership of the United States, European Union, particularly the European Union Parliament, have reacted and are reacting with anger, disdain and animosity to the results of the Brexit Referendum.

There have been calls for a rejection of the Referendum results (inclusive of an  online campaign seeking to collect signatures to support a recall – with only 3 million signatures collected so far, the campaign might have revealed that even far less persons will vote ‘Remain’, than voted in the Referendum); well orchestrated and manipulated reactions from the ‘financial sector’ (including a down-grading of Britain by so-called rating agencies, {spurious organizations which serve spurious interests and were rubbished when it was discovered that the major financial institutions which enjoyed Triple-A ratings in their skewed scaled were actually global con outfits}); and a continuation of threats against the British citizens who voted to leave the EU.

Why suddenly the wishes and desires of a people freely expressed in a democratic election has become an anathema, an outcome all have to rally to disprove, a threat to the world order and so many other adjectives used to describe the result of the British EU Referendum vote is really confusing and hypocritical. After very aggressive campaigning by both sides, the people of the United Kingdom were emphatic in their choice. Friends of the United Kingdom simply have to support and assist the British people to make the best of their very bold decision.

It is critical to realize here that if the outcome of an election in Africa or Asia had caused half as much uproar in the West as the British EU referendum, for starters, the armada of foreign election ‘observer’ and ‘monitors’ and their local hangers on who are intrinsically tied to their foreign funders via stringent apron strings, would have raised a stinker on how flawed the Referendum process had been; with cable networks forever hosting interview sessions with ‘experts’ and ‘eye witnesses’ who will affirm the faultiness of the voting process; a series of crippling international economic sanctions will follow, and if all these fail, resort will be had to all manners of unconstitutional and uncouth means, including the instigation of violent coup d’etat, to ensure the overthrow of the choice of the electorate.

The push now appears to be to do whatsoever to punish and vilify the British system and its people with the intent to dissuade other countries who might be considering a similar exit from the EU from ever thinking of going that route. Commonsense would have served to convince scaremongers that such tactics will only serve to further infuriate those who quest for genuine independence.

It really appears that democracy, or better still its outcomes, is indeed scaring the hell out of democrats.

A BREXIT-Like Vote in the US come November?

by Eze Eluchie,

United States President, Barrack Obama’s extremely naive and ostrich-with-head-buried-in-the-sands  comments that the Orlando massacre had nothing to do with extremist Islam (despite explicit evidence and pronouncements by the shooter that he was aligned with ISISS) and general disposition to obviate the reality of danger posed to global hegemony by extremist Islamist ideologues; coupled with Hilary Clinton's position during her tenure as US Secretary of State that Boko Haram was not a terrorist organization but merely a socio-economic reaction to marginalization and poverty (despite the several be-headings, suicide bombing of Christian places of worship and bombing of the United Nations complex in Nigeria's capital city, Abuja, carried out by the dreaded terrorist outfit), in the process, refusing to accord Boko Haram the status of a Foreign Terrorist Organization, amongst other positions which sought to confuse global efforts against terror and her general disposition to, like President Obama, refrain from recognizing and facing the dire threat to humanity posed by extremist Islam, may well lead to a BREXIT-like vote during the forthcoming US Presidential elections in November.

Americans may wake up the night after the Presidential elections, like the Brits did after the BREXIT vote, wondering why, who and what they had really voted for.

Would the result of the next US Presidential elections also leave the rest of the world wondering why the US exited from the core values for which the rest of the world have come to associate the US. Would November 2016 Presidential Elections be a USExit?

Brits, on Your Independence, Congratulations.

by Eze Eluchie,

I congratulate the people of the United Kingdom on this momentous occasion of their ‘independence’ attained via a decisive vote to leave the European Union.

In the face of unwelcomed threats, warnings and outright intimidation from foreign entities and particularly financial institutions and some foreign heads of governments, the Brits have voted with their minds and conscience to leave the European Union – the rest of the world simply have to live with this reality. All those apocalyptic predictions seeking to cajole a people’s destiny will simply fade away as their veracity is disproved by traditional British resilience and industriousness.

All other peoples, across the world, desirous of a Referendum to determine their continued stay or otherwise in any contraption which they might have been foisted into, only now have to continue with more vigor until their intentions and hearts desires get fulfilled.
